week 2 assignment.

To be honest, I've never used pinterest and don't particularly want to either. As one of our reading assignments stated, something like 97 percent of pinterest users are women. I didn't even know what pinterest really was until I looked at some for this week.

One of the pinterest accounts I looked at was the Seattle Public Library. I chose SPL simply because they are a big, famous library. I found their pinterest through their website. Here is the URL-
https://www.pinterest.com/seattlelibrary/

They use it for a variety of topics and promotions. The most interesting one I found was one of historical photos of the old Seattle Public Library. There were also different topics of staff picks, new reads, and an entire board of "library cats". Gross.

Next, I googled library pinterest boards and randomly chose a library. I reached the Warren-Newport Public library pinterest account, which is evidently located in Gurnee, Illinois. I've never heard of Gurnee, IL nor the Warren-Newport public library, but they have quite the Pinterest presence. They had thanksgiving recipes " pinned", thanksgiving movies, movie categories of all sorts, and even a board dedicated to the much overlooked "culinary fiction" genre.   Here is the URL-

In conclusion, I learned something new today. That being said, I don't think I have the willpower to force myself to actually use it for the library. Maybe Anne will!

Week 1 assignment.

Here's some things I've seen other libraries doing on facebook-

1. Promoting programs

2. Promoting new arrivals.

3. Posting general information about the library such as hours of operation, location, etc.

4. Promoting other community event's that aren't the libraries.

Intro for class

Ya'll know me.

I've had facebook since before it was cool, goodreads for a couple of years, and there is no way I'm ever getting a pinterest.
